WP Plugin: Def-Link

Compatibility
- Wordpress 1.5 or later
Installation
- Download the plugin (v. 1.4): def-link.php.txt and def-link-manage.php.txt
- Rename def-link.php.txt to def-link.php and put it into
wp-content/plugins/ directory - Rename def-link-manage.php.txt to def-link-manage.php and put it into
wp-admin/ directory - Activate the plugin from Wordpress administration menu.
Usage
- Enter menu Administration->Manage->Def-Link You can add, edit or delete the definition, link or custom here
Example & Demonstration
I add:
- PDA as a definition
- Fill name with “PDA”
- Fill Definition/Link with “Personal Digital Assistant�
- Click Definition radiobutton (default)
- Click Add button
- Riyogarta as a link
- Fill name with “Riyogarta”
- Fill Definition/Link with “http://riyogarta.com�
- Click Link radiobutton
- Click Add button
- BoldBlue as a custom (new fiture in version 1.3)
- Fill name with “BoldBlue”
- Fill Definition/Links with “BoldBlue“
- Click Custom radiobutton
- Click Add button

- This plugin is a modification from wp-Define plugin created by Marios Tziortzis.
Version History
1.0 (February 22, 2006)
The modification I’ve made are:
- Fix the previous automatically ALL CAPS definition. The definition is no longer change to capital, it stayed in form that we input.
- This plugin can make a link form as is the definition.
- The Administration menu view is modified to support the addition make a Link facility
1.1 (February 23, 2006)
- This plugin also fix it’s former bug that always change to definition form in every word contain that definition.
1.2 (February 24, 2006)
I’ve already fixed some bugs in def-link plugin as follow:
- Fix the problem when edit any definition or link
- Fix the problem if a link use the same word with a definition. The weird look in your post is gone. Thanks to Ben for notifying me about this bug
1.3 (February, 25, 2006)
- Fix the problem to edit and delete action on IE and Opera browser.
- Recreated the main function.
- Now, the plugin have a custom fiture maybe can help to make other something for your posted.
1.4 (March 4, 2006)
- Let the link you have posted remain unchanged
- Now, the plugin have a tool to import from wp-Define entries.

It makes my post look weird if I add a link and a definition for the same word. Is there a fix for this?

buglist:
If i write wenQe in a post and add wenQe to the def list, it doesn’t work
but wenqe in the def list and wenQe in the post works.
The Plugin changes wenQe to wenqe, it changes the word in the post into the word in the def list and doens’t work case-sensitive.
If a uses Pictures from my database with the title wenQe, the plugin try to set a def link to the word in the tag. The pics dont work then!
But a good PlugIn, i will try the next version

I found a bug in your plugins as i mention below:
this code will make the already altered text into a new weird text (u r using looping).

I can’t solved the problem yet, but you can try with the custom fiture to solve this problem. Fill name with Kristen and fill definition/link with:
<a href=”your_url” mce_href=”your_url” alt=”your_defintion”>Kristen</a>
and click Custom radiobutton and then click Add to finish it

Hi, nice work. But got an error:
If you have an url like this one:
<a href=”/” title=”my_word”>Something about my_word&;lt/a> in the text and you have set up an definition for my_word you get a wrong inside the title-part. Its the same if you have defined a link for my_word – in any case you get a fault url.
Solution: Don’t replace it in title=”…”.
Can you fix this?

You’ve got the line 75 wrong, it is line 88.
The correct line 75 is “}“.
Just simply, donwload again the correct def-link.php.txt. I’ve already fixed it

Hey,
All right just redownloaded and tried again, but still when clicking the add button, it still says “Definitions List and Links List is Empty” .
I have cleared cache, cookies, etc. and still no luck!
At least now the plug-in is not having the sql errors now. So making progress.
Any more ideas?

Hey,
OMG no wonder. The table did not get created. Very strange that I’m not getting any errors. So I guess your install code does not work, that is the function yo_deflink_install() function.
So how can I create the table. Tired a copy and paste into phpmyadmin but it does not like that.

Maybe you can try to remove all “\b” characters in $ccompare variable within def-link.php file.
But, when you remove it, every words contain string you have in definition/link will be replaced.
eg.
if you define “girl” in your definiton, so the plugin will replace “girl” in “girls”
or
will replace “main” in “maintenance” if you define “main” in your definition.

There is a bug: your plugin also looks for definitions even inside the “a href” so if i have the word “blog” in my list of definitions and i put this link in my blog: LINK, where the word “blog” is part of the direction, then i get an error.

I’m having an issue when one of the flagged objects, for example “Google” which would link to google.com is a part of the URL.
Let’s say I have the following link to Google Spreadsheets (spreadsheets.google.com), then the plugin would grab the word “Google” out of the URL and break the link to insert it’s own.
I’m thinking there would have to be some definition/exception rule like “If linked() then break” or whatnot.
Other than that, it’d be awesome to have the option to customize the link’s classes (IE, automated links have the “def_link” class) so it can be of a different color than normal links.
Looks like a very promising plugin none the less! Keep up the good work!

Like daedal, I think there needs to be a code to stop URLs that already exist from being broken when they contain a plugin keyword.

I suppose this replace links that are only in the main entry field. I want to replace a link in a custom field called “key”. How can I do that?
